Last Saturday I was asked to help out a friend at the public debut of their first product range at Craft Victoria’s Craft Hatch Market. I spent the day helping out with the TastyPixel (designer photographic cushsions) stall while Melbournites flowed through the second level of the Melbourne City library to check out and purchase the work of some of Melbourne’s emerging and student designers.
This month’s market featured the amazing work of TastyPixel (Sheena Mckinnon), Dawn Tan, LabthreeOfive, Tara Lofhelm, Sue Manski, Sharon Russell, Sarah Faulkner, Melinda Hawkes and Gemma Johnson.

Although the market is small (it averages 10 -11 stalls) and only one year old, this months market was the biggest to date (over 500 people visited) and as far as I am aware, was highly successful for all that attended. The market was a great chance not only to meet some of these amazing creators, but also check out their fantastic work.

The next Craft Hatch Market will be held at the State Library of Victoria and will the biggest Craft Hatch so far in terms of both stalls and visitors. Unfortunately I won’t be in attendance but based on my experience at the November one it will be well worth checking out.
