Tim Brown, CEO and President of IDEO was born on the 24th of June, 1962 in Preston England. In 1985 he graduated from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, UK with a Bachelor in Industrial Design. He then went on to completed his Masters in Design at the Royal College of Art, London in 1987.
After completing his Masters he joined IDTWO where he was a designer until 1991, when IDTWO merged with three other founding firms to become IDEO. Between 1992 and 1995 he was head of IDEO’s San Fransisco office and then in 1995 became head of their Europe office. HE was head of the Europe office up until 2000 when he became IDEO’s President and CEO. Tim Brown also received an honorary doctor of science degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California in 2004, and in 2005 was named a visiting professor in design at the University of Northumbria, Newcastle, UK.
