On the 15th of October Design Droplets will be one year old. This is extremely exciting for me and I hope you are also excited – especially since, as a big thank you to our fantastic readers, we will be holding a 1st Birthday Celebration in the form of a Group Design Writing Project, with fantastic Prize Giveaways to be won!
Why are we doing this you ask? In order to bring the online design community closer together, including blogs, sites, forums and those readers that subscribe to or read them. Plus we want to celebrate our 1st Birthday.
Today I am putting out a call for sponsorship for what I hope will be a HUGE industrial design group writing project (in a similar vein to the awesome project run by Jacob Cass on his blog Just Creative Design in Feb 2008, which was of course inspired by David Airey’s anniversary prize draw in 2007 – thanks to David and Jacob for the inspiration & a template on which to build this project).
About the Project
Whats this all about I hear you ask? Next week I will be calling on all our loyal readers and bloggers in the Industrial Design community and wider blogging community, who are interested in design, to write and post articles relating to the field of Industrial Design/Product Design.
By “relating to the subject of industrial design or product design” I mean an informative article that contributes in someway to the professions body of knowledge – it might give advice, a tutorial on how to do something, a list of resources, your thoughts on a particular issue or some general tips – be creative.
Each article submission will gain the writer 3 entries into the prize draw (It is not a competition, it is a prize draw). You will also be able to get bonus entries by linking to sponsors and commenting on articles….More details will be in the upcoming post on the project.
By having these bonus entries, this will make sure that the link love will be spread around. I mean seriously, who doesn’t want link love?
Throughout the duration of the project, links to the articles you have written will be added to a single repository post so we can view the articles, share them and spread lots of link love.
Prizes will be drawn at the end using a random number generator, as we have done in past Design Droplets give-aways.
Sponsorship
In the same way I put a lot of effort into creating great articles for Design Droplets, I have also put a huge effort into organising this project and I am asking you for your support.
If you have anything you are willing to put up for sponsorship it would be greatly appreciated. For prize ideas – get creative – it could be a magazine subscription, a book, a training dvd, vouchers or even an offer of your services. Or check out David Airey’s and Jacob Cass’ blog draws (held in 2007 and 2008 respectively) for ideas.
