It is now the end of the sixth month since Design Droplets was launched. In that time Design Droplets has grown steadily. Design Droplets now has an average of 5,000 page views per month, a new site design and will soon reach 100 posts and almost as many comments! Design Droplets is certainly well on its way to becoming an established site with an engaged community, which is really exciting.
You will have noticed that there are quite a few changes since our launch last year which include:
- A new site Design (if you are reading via RSS then swing by and check it out). Luckily there wasn’t much disarray as this was rolled out. The new site design essentially cleans up the site. It has allowed for a better header, it gets rid of funny things like the other awesome blogs being in two places, it provides the site with better SEO and has a much more powerful back end which utilises Wordpress and the amazing Wordpress theme Thesis, both of which I cannot recommend highly enough.
- Design Droplets no longer features google ads. We currently have one sponsor (Mr English Coffee Roasting Co.). However we are looking for more. So if you would like to sponsor us, visit the Advertise page. Or if you know someone who would be interested in sponsoring us then direct them to the afore mentioned page. All the revenue currently goes into things like hosting to keep the site running.
- We have also launched Polls in the right hands side bar. We have done this to allow us to get to know Design Droplets readers better. Thus allowing the content produced to be more focused on readers and the type of content they want. So please vote in the Polls when you see them. But don’t forget, if you want to provide more feedback then you can always use the contact form here.
- We have the write for Design Droplets page. We want to open up Design Droplets, to allow Industrial Designers to share their thoughts, opinions and views with the Online Community. So please consider contributing as it will help you share your writing ,promote yourself and help Design Droplets grow. We are mostly interested in writing specific to design in Australasia, however we are open to suggestions about writing that isn’t specific to Australasian Design. So either way express your interest via the contact form.
- The Design Droplets Facebook Page. If you are a Facebook user, you can now show that you are a fan of Design Droplets. As well as discuss industrial design etc… in the discussion area of the Design Droplets Facebook page.
There are also have a few things in the pipeline, including:
- A job board specific to Design Jobs in Australasia- We are currently searching for initial partners for launching this. If you are interested get in contact.
- Some offline events will be occurring later in the year or early next year.
- We will be getting a couple more contributors.
Don’t forget you can send through feedback anytime on anything on the site, you can now contribute articles, if you have spare time you can browse our archives and you can even advertise yourself, your company or your services.
